Senate President, Bukola Saraki has held talks with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in the wake of the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The meeting was held Friday at the Hilltop mansion of the former president on IBB Boluevard, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State, western Nigeria.

Emerging from the closed door meeting, the former Kwara State governor told journalists that the party’s crisis would soon be over.

He also described Obasanjo as an encyclopaedia of knowledge who must be consulted at all times for experience in many things,especially governance.

Saraki, who arrived Obasanjo’s residence at exactly 9:10a.m., was accompanied by some Senators who are mainly members of the new Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. They are Danjuma Goje, Andy Uba, Ahmed Sanni Yerima and Tayo Alasoadura.

Others are the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Kawu Baraje and Roy Murray-Bruce, younger brother to Senator Ben Murray-Bruce.

Immediately they arrived, they went into a closed door meeting with Obasanjo.

The meeting which lasted about two hours was perceived to be fruitful as all the attendees exchanged pleasantaries and laughed heartily while coming out.

While explaining further the purpose of his visit to Obasanjo who is the former Chairman, Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Saraki said he came to greet the man and tap from his wealth of experience.

He also declared that all public servants in the country must be ready to make sacrifice in the area of cutting down their wages.

The Senate President noted that this was necessary this time in order to be able to salvage the country from total collapse precipitated by the past administration.

According to him, “we have come to greet Baba and to tap from his wealth of experience. He is our father. On the crisis within the party, everything will be resolved soon. You can see that everything is going on smoothly now. It will soon become a thing of the past.

“The current situation in the country is not encouraging and every public servant must be ready to make sacrifice in order to salvage this country. This we will surely achieve, we are already on it.”

Earlier before his arrival, a special prayer and praise worship was organised by the domestic staff and some family members in the home of Obasanjo who had been out of the country in the last two weeks. He arrived late last night.

Some of Obasanjo’s aides at the venue were Chief Bode Mustapha, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi; former SSG, Oyo State during Alao-Akala administration, Chief Layiwola Ayankojo, among others.
