Local government council chairmen elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa on Sunday pledged support and cooperation to the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) government in the state.

Alhaji Khalid Ibrahim, the state Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), made the pledge in an interview with NAN in Dutse.

Ibrahim explained that in spite political differences between PDP chairmen and APC state government, they must work together for the development of the state.

According to him, both the state government and local government chairmen are working to improve the lives of the citizens of the state.

Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of Birninkudu Local Government Council, said that there must be synergy between the two tiers of government for peace and progress of the state.

“As you know, the governor is the Chief Security Officer of the state while the chairman is the security officer of his local government; they will have to work with each other.”

He said that all council chairmen were not unmindful of the party differences, but added that they are determined to work with any government for the development of the state.

The ALGON chairman recalled that Governor Muhammad Badaru summoned them immediately after he was sworn in and pledged to work in harmony with them.
