Personnel and spouses of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno.

Handing over the materials to the state’s Deupty Governor in Maiduguri the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, Mr Tahir Musa, said the donation was meant to ease the pains of the displaced persons who were forced out of their homes by the insurgents.

He said personnel and families of the NCS were mindful of the difficulties being faced by the people and decided to contribute their quota to ease their sufferings.

“We feel the pains of the IDPs because they are our family. We will do everything to assist.

“We promise to work with the state till the IDPs return to their individual homes,” Tahir said.

Tahir emphasised that the items were solely contributed by individuals and not by the NCS.

Items donated included bags of rice and other food items, clothes, mats and cooking utensils.

Receiving the items the Deputy Governor Alhaji Zanna Mustapha thanked them for the donation and urged others to emulate the gesture.

Mustapha said the state government had spent N11 billion to cater for the needs of the IDPs.
