Bauchi govt promises to address youth restiveness

Nuhu Gidado, Bauchi State Deputy Governor, has said that youth restiveness would be given priority within the first 100 days of the new administration in the state.

Gidado stated this in an interview with NAN on Sunday in Bauchi.

“There is no two ways about it, we will go into the issue of youth restiveness from day one.

“We have that as a priority and have mapped out our plans and what we want to achieve.

“Secondly, security of lives and property will also be accorded priority because without security, without peace, we cannot operate,” he said.

He said the new administration would explore the potentials of the traditional institutions in the state, by allowing it play its role to ensure the security of lives and property.

Gidado said that the involvement traditional rulers in security matters would reduce the burden on the security agencies in maintaining law and order.

The deputy governor also said that the new administration would rejuvenate the civil service, which he described as the “engine room of governance.”

“Since we have been sworn-in now, what we are trying to do is to see that the civil service is streamlined,” Gidado stressed.

The deputy governor said that the administration had engaged a commercial bank that would foot the bill for the bio-metric capture of civil servants.
