Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Thursday inaugurated 5.5km network roads worth N2.2 billion as part of efforts to boost the socio-economic development of the state.

Al-Makura said the inaugurated roads would help to reduce traffic congestion in Lafia, the state capital.

“Every body is aware that my government, since its inception, has given topmost priority not only to the welfare of the civil servants but to the welfare of the entire citizens of the state through the initiation of people-oriented projects.

“The importance of any government in embarking on the construction of roads can not be over-emphasized to the development of the society, apart from boosting the socio-economic development, it will also reduce the suffering of the people .

“My government has not only provided infrastructural facilities at communities across the state such as good roads, electricity, portable water but also give top most priority to the education, health, commerce, judicial sectors, among others, for the benefit of all.

“Today, I am inaugurating 5.5km network of road project worth N2.2 billon in order to improve on the standard of living of the people as well as to boost the socio-economic development of the state.”

According to him, the state government has decided to embark on roads network construction across the state in order to fight poverty, youths restiveness, unemployment as well as fight crimes and discourages rural-urban migration.

He said that his administration had also given top most priority to the welfare of the persons with disabilities so as to improve on the lives of their family members.

The governor solicited for support from the people of teh state to enable him execute more people-oriented projects in order to fight poverty and unemployment in the state.

Al-Makura reinstated the state government’s commitment to protect the lives and property of the residents of the state through enhanced security policies.

NAN reports that the inaugurated roads included the 1.5km Angwan-Jaba and the 4Km Shendam – Bukan Sidi roads in Lafia.
