Indigenous telecommunications solutions provider, Globacom, says 16 years of uninterrupted democratic experiment and the successful transition of power to a new civilian government calls for celebration.

The company observed that democracy has indeed grown in the country in the last sixteen years and this was manifested in the last general elections in which an incumbent government conceded power to an opposition party in an election supervised by the ruling party.

In a statement released in Lagos, Globacom commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his patriotism and efforts to deepen democracy in the country, and also congratulated the incoming administration of President-elect Muhammadu Buhari for its electoral success.

The network also congratulated Nigerians and the electoral and security institutions for the largely peaceful way they conducted the last general elections, noting that the process has significantly elevated Nigeria’s stature in the rating of the world.

“Democracy by its nature is geared towards building an egalitarian society where fairness and equity thrive. We wish the Buhari administration divine wisdom and fortitude in its determination to move the nation forward. We believe that the new government would engender a renewed burst of patriotism and drive to make the country better in all ramifications by maximizing its potentials,” the statement added.

The company, therefore, called on Nigerians to continue to support government at the local, state and federal levels to grow the economy, strengthen relevant institutions, create jobs and generally build structures that would enable the country to achieve greatness.

Globacom charged all to uphold the unity of the country in their actions, adding that it would continue to offer Nigerians innovative and affordable telecommunications products and services to help empower the Nigerian people and stimulate socio-economic development of the country.
