5 Months Unpaid Salaries: Oyo workers embark on indefinite strike

Civil servants in Oyo state commenced indefinite strike action as a result of non-payment of salaries by the state government for the past five months as well as none availability of fuel which has made life unbearable for all and sundry.

As at the time our correspondent visited the state secretariat, all the offices were locked.

Also, the Oyo State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) has also joined the strike action has it embarks on partial broadcasting activities.

According to the management, the station will work between 6:00 am and close 10:00 am for it to be reopened 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

This according to the management will continue until normalcy return to the state in terms of state government paying all the salaries it is owing the civil servants as well as availability of fuel.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Gbade Lana condemned the outgoing administration at the federal level for leaving the country in crisis saying that situation will improve tremendously with the coming of new administration to be led by All Progressives Congress (APC).
