A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, popularly called Sir Kay has been abducted by unidentified gunmen.

Sir Kay was said to be preparing for his mother’s final burial rites slated for Wednesday when he was kidnapped.

It was gathered that the tall, light-skinned politician was abducted on his way to Imowo, where he was going to buy a cow for the ceremony.

P.M.NEWS gathered further that the politician had on him N300,000 which he wanted to use to buy a cow at the time of his abduction.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS on phone, wife of the abducted politician said: “We were planning the burial of mama which was fixed for Wednesday when Sir Kay said he was going to Imowo to buy a cow. He left home around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday and till now we have not seen him.

“We were not sure of what happened to him at first but when it was late that day and we did not hear anything from him, we suspected something bad must have happened to him. We called his phone but we could not reach him.

“On Wednesday, the abductors called and informed us that my husband was with them. They said they have collected the money found on him. They described the money as a token, adding that they would get back to us.

“They are yet to make any demand and we are yet to hear from them again. I want to use this medium to appeal to the abductors of my husband to please, for God’s sake, release him. We are all worried. The burial ceremony has been shifted and the family is in disarray now.”

P.M.NEWS investigations revealed further that the Area Commander of Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, ACP Mudasiru has met with the Coumcil of Olorituns on the security situation in the town.

A source at the meeting revealed that the police boss solicited the cooperation of indigenes and residents of every quarters in Ijebu-Ode to check the rampant kidnappings in the town.

Also, the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Council, Razzak Olukemi Daddah, has advised the police to step up their intelligence gathering mechanism to curb the rampant kidnappings in the town.

Daddah tasked them to arrest the kidnappers and their sponsors in a letter he wrote to the state Commissioner of Police.
Over five persons have so far been kidnapped in Ijebu-Ode since the begining of this month, it was learnt.
