Contrary to the believe that controversy over zoning of political offices is tearing the All Progressives Congress (APC), apart, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and governor-elect of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Sunday asserted that the party is intact.

Tambuwal who gave the assurance while speaking to journalists ‎in Opoji, Esan Central local government area of Edo State, shortly after being conferred with a traditional chieftancy title of Onosejile (God-sent) of Opoji kingdom by the Onojie of Opoji, HRH Ehidiamen Aidonojie I, also assured that the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, will ensure justice to both the people of the South-South and South-East in the sharing of political positions, adding that Buhari will be President of Nigeria and not President of the APC.

He said the leadership of the APC is presently consulting on how to zone political offices across the country.

“The party is consulting and I am sure after consultation the party will announce its decision,” Tambuwal stated, ‎adding that, since the election of Gen. Buhari as President, Nigerians are hopeful for better days to come.

“Now we have a new president, elections are over and the country is calm and quiet. All of us elected officials dedicate this victory to God Almighty. It is only God Almighty that gives power and he takes it away from whoever he designs at any time. Let me assure all Nigerians that our party, particularly the President-elect, Gen. Buhari, will do justice to all manners of people of this great nation.

“He is a great man that is aware of the enormity of responsibilities as President of all and not President of a political party. And indeed in particular, the people of the South South and South East, President Buhari will be fair and very kind to all of us as soon as he resumes office come May 29,” he stated.

Commenting on the chieftancy title bestowed on him, Tambuwal thanked the traditional ruler and people of Opoji Kingdom, adding, “I am particularly happy with His Highness for all his prayers both when i was tear gassed at the National Assembly by the police and during my election as Governor. Opoji is my second home and I am very grateful for this title.”

The Speaker had earlier in the company of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, paid a condolence visit to the Minority Whip of the House, Mr Samson Osagie, at Urhokosa village, in Uhumnwonde local government area of Edo State.
