The Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, on Monday in Akure, presented letter of approval for Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, to Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, to formally commence the operations of the institution.

He said President Goodluck Jonathan established the Federal Polytechnic amongst three others, in order to meet the technical, applied science, management and technological needs of the nation for relevant economic growth and industrial revolution.

The minister told Mimiko that “we are here to support your government, the people of the state and beneficiaries of the polytechnic’’ as he presented the formal letter of approval to the governor.

Shekarau added that the ministry would work with the provost of the polytechnic and its principal staff to ensure that the institution delivered its academic mandate.

The minister later inspected the temporary site of the institution with a team of experts from the Federal Ministry of Education.

Responding, Mimiko appreciated the minister and the team of experts who would be left behind to monitor the establishment of the polytechnic.

The governor said that the host community was happy about the take-off of the institution.

He appealed to the minister to expedite action toward the release of the N1 billion take-off fund for the polytechnic before May 29.
