Amosun To Workers: Don't be swayed by half truth and lies

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, Southwest, Nigeria has advised workers in the state to guard themselves against allowing half-truths and lies being peddled by some prejudiced individual and groups.

He also declared that he will not relent on all his electioneering promises to the people while seeking for their votes, hinting that, his planned inter and intra-city light rail project would create over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people of the state when construction begins.

The governor stated this while addressing workers in the state at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta during the Workers Day celebration in the state.

According to him, “I implore you that we have a great task ahead and the journey is still far. We are all stakeholders in the re-building of our beloved state and nation, so it is pertinent that we all jointly forge ahead with the task at hand.

“On our part, we remain unwavering in our commitment to the successful implementation of the “Mission to Rebuild” Ogun state to the fullest. We intend to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones.

“I am determined to ensure that both the ongoing and new projects are completed in good time. What that means is that we all must work harder than we did in the last four years,” Amosun promised.

On the job creation through the newly signed rail projects across the state, the governor added that the railway project which is expected to pass through Abeokuta – Sagamu – Lagos, Ilaro, Agbara Industrial Estate, Idiroko among other places would also create millions of jobs upon completion.

The present administration in the State led by Ibikunke Amosun Ogun had on Monday last week, signed an agreement with the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) for the construction of the light railway project in the State.

The project is estimated at $3.2 billion US dollars.

Amosun noted that the rail project would be beneficial to the State workforce in terms of movement, adding that furniture and chairs makers would also benefit from it.

According to him, “all the chairs for sitting in the trains would be produced locally by experienced technicians or artisans in the State”,the governor promised.
