There is an outcry among residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers capital over the rising cases of kidnap following the abduction of Mrs. Uju Onata, mother of two, and a physiotherapist with the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH a few days ago.

She was abducted as she was about entering her house in Port Harcourt after the close work.

Staff of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital are worried and are appealing to the kidnappers to release Mrs Uju Onata on humanitarian grounds to unite her with her family and to allow her continue her service to humanity.

Ogbonna Obi, Public Relations Officer of Nigerian Union of Allied Health Workers, UPTH branch who spoke on behalf of workers in the hospital decried the kidnap.

“She is only a physiotherapist rendering service to humanity. She is not into politics but only discharging a her professional duties to the society. She was abducted close to her house on her way from work. For the sake of the infants here and her children, they should please release her,” Obi appealed.

The whereabouts of Uju remains unknown.
