About a week after Chief Cassidy Ikegbudu, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ahoada East local Government council of Rivers state was abducted by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Saturday April 18, the family is yet to be contacted by his abductors to make any ransom demand.

PM News also learnt that security agents do not have a clue as regards his whereabout or an idea of how to track down the abductors.

Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Rivers Police Command, who confirmed the abduction said the police were working to release him.

Ikegbudu is a loyalist of Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers state and a leading personality in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

He was once an elected council chairman of Ahoada East local Government council. But when his tenure expired, he was among the few selected Council Chairmen who was appointed as a Caretaker Committee Chairmen.

Ikegbudu, a High Chief in Ekpeyeland, was leader and vocal spokesman for APC members who protested to the INEC headquarters in Abuja to protest the transfer of Mrs Gesila Khan, the Rivers INEC Resident Electoral Commission, REC, who was accused of being a compromised umpire and tool in the hands of the opposing parties to rig out APC.

Ikegbudu who spoke on behalf of the protesting APC members in Abuja vehemently opposed to Mrs Khan. He also called for all results emanating from Rivers INEC be discountenanced and rejected as they were not true reflection of the wishes of Rivers people.
