No fewer than three persons died in a ghastly motor accident that occurred at Obayator village on Saturday along Benin‎-Warri highway.

The accident which occurred at about 8.30 am, involved a Navy blue Toyota Hiace bus, Lagos XL 617 AGL, crashed into an aluminium coloured Toyota Sienna bus, marked as Delta Bur 598 AA.

Both vehicles were travelling towards Benin City from Warri end of the double carriage way.

Witnesses disclosed to P.M. NEWS that the Hiace which carried obituary posters of a woman, apparently on top speed, lost control and rammed into the Sienna bus from behind, causing both vehicles to skid off the road.

One witness who identified himself simply as Joseph, said one of the injured passengers said they were travelling to Ekpoma, administrative headquarters of Esan West local government area of Edo State for burial.

The injured were rushed to Stella Obasanjo hospital in Benin.

Youths of the village blocked the two sides of the double carriage way, thereby causing long queues of vehicles on the roads. They alleged insensitivity on the part of other motorists to assist the injured to the hospital.
