Army to begin ammunition inspections on April 20

The Nigerian Army will begin series of proficiency drills and special ammunition inspections in Port Harcourt, an official said.

This is contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Capt. Nsima Essien, the Army Public Relations Officer of 2 Brigade Army, Port Harcourt.

The statement quoted Essien as saying that the brigade would commence the exercise from Monday, April 20 to Friday, April 24 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

“The 82 Ammunition Sub-Depot of the Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt will conduct a five-day special ammunition-technical inspection in its ammunition depot in Port Harcourt Barrack,” the statement stated.

The statement stated that the exercise was a routine inspection in the Nigerian Army Ammunition Depot which involved test firing and detonation of high calibre explosives.

It urged the public not to panic over sound of gunshots and explosives during the exercise.
