Adeshina Olayokun, the Lagos State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has urged the state Governor-elect, Mr Akinwumi Ambode, to protect the interest of all Lagos residents.

Olayokun, who was also the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the April 11 election, told NAN on Friday in Lagos that the governor-elect should promote people-oriented programmes.

He said “this is democracy, let the continuity go on and let the electorate see dividends of democracy.

“The governor-elect should listen to the complaints of people at all levels because democracy in the country has taken a new dimension.

“If you ignore the people’s complaints, the people may decide to vote you out in the next election.

“Ambode should consider the plights of the people and take their interests into consideration.”

The party chairman also advised Lagos residents to cooperate with the incoming administration.

Olayokun said residents should always embark on dialogue in making their interest
known to government rather than resorting to violence.

The party chairman commended INEC for conducting free, fair and credible elections.

He, however, urged the commission to improve on the distribution of the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the functionality of the Smart Card Readers in future elections.
