The senator-elect in Ogun East, Prince Buruji Kashamu was absent at the presentation of certificate of returns to the newly elected federal lawmakers and the governor.

Also absent at the presentation was the House of Representative member-elect to represent Remo federal constituency, Oladipupo Adebutu. Both candidates are member of the Peoples Demicratic Party, PDP.

But Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who was re-elected for second term was on hand to receive his certificate of return.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta presented certificate of returns to all the three senators and the nine members of the Federal House of Representatives.

The All Progressive Congress, APC won majority of the seat in the state. APC won two of the three senate seats and also won seven of the nine seats in the House of Representatives.

The two representative seats won by the PDP are that of the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside which was won by the former State Commissioner for Works, Aremo Segun Adekoya, popularly referred to as ATTACKER.

The second was won by Oladipupo Adebutu which is Remo federal constituency.

Kashamu, our correspondent gathered deliberately shunned the event to avoid being booed by the crowd at the event.

Only Aremo Segun Adekoya of the PDP attended the event.

The atmosphere was so friendly that all the lawmakers, irrespective of their political differences were mingling and chatting together.

A source close to the senator-elect, who was at the event revealed to our correspondent that the Ijebu Igbo-born conman deliberately stayed away from the event, sensing that he may be booed by the people.

“We discussed his coming to the programme but he maintained that he is not coming becuse he does not want to create unnecessary scene at the event.”

Meanwhile, the National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in charge of Ogun, Oyo and Ekiti States, Prof. Lai Olurode has lamented that the democratisation processes in Africa is under siege, particularly in Nigeria.

Olurode however suggested that an outstanding legal reforms which seek to strengthen INEC and the essential elements of political party supremacy must be attended to by the incoming government and the National Assemblies with urgency.

He stated this during the presentation of certificate of return. “Legal reforms to fill the void in the election administration must also be immediate. I want to advise that INEC needs to produce a clean voters’ register devoid of fictitious names.

“INEC staff integrity and security of election technology are hard nuts which must be resolved,” Olurode said.
