DaGrin died on Thursday, 22 April 2010 – exactly eight days after he was involved in a ghastly accident in front of Alakara Police Station in Mushin, Lagos. He did not pioneer Yoruba-rap, as there are other front liners like UK-based act AY and former Coded Tunes rapper Lord of Ajasa, but he made it popular.

“Five years in and my cousin’s impact in the industry is still being felt. I have seen a number of artistes who have openly confessed to being influenced by DaGrin and it is time to immortalise and remember his legacy,” Tee Blaq said.

Adding, Taofeek Olokodana, CEO, Eldar Records said DaGrin’s death is still as painful as when it happened five years ago.

“We are hoping to see beyond death and pain while we celebrate his legacy, his evergreen music and gain in artistes he has influenced including Tee Blaq who grew up with him.”
