Prince Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, the newly elected member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikeja Constituency 2, has dedicated his election last Saturday to Nigerian youths.

Speaking with our correspondent after he was formally declared the winner, Kasunmu, said he has been in the fore-front of the campaign for youth empowerment for some time and now the time is here to take it to the next level.

“Gratitude is the hardest emotion to express. However, no words can express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your overwhelming support since the beginning of this political journey and indeed during the period of this election. I am humbled by the trust you have in me which is the reason you gave me your support and vote. I assure you that it wasn’t misplaced.

“In my time, it would be a promise kept by the grace of God. This is a victory for Nigerian youth and I promise to remain committed to the cause. Thank you very much everyone,” the legislator-elect fondly called ARK said.

Kasunmu, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, won the keenly contested election with a total of 19,909 votes while his PDP rival polled 14, 147 votes.

“We have toiled day and night, we have worked under the sun and under the rain and today God has crowned our effort with success. It had been a tedious task, our opponents tried all the tricks in the book but we remained committed to decent and civilised politicking, which our party APC is known for. Today, we can say all is well that ends well. For us it is a well-deserved victory,” he added.

Kasunmu, a lawyer in his early 30s joined the race to the Lagos State House of Assembly mid last year and contested against other established politicians at the APC primaries held in December 2014.

He was educated at Kings College, Lagos and University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
