A storey building belonging to a medical practitioner, Dr O. Shonowo has been razed by fire and properties worth millions of naira destroyed in Shasha area of Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The incident happened at 9/10 Shonowo Crescent, off Bameke Road, Shasha, Lagos at about 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Though no life was lost, there was severe damage to the property before the fire service workers put out the fire.
All the properties in the rooms in the upper duplex and the roof were destroyed.
The cause of the fire was still strange as Shonowo told our reporter that he could not actually say what caused it.
P.M. NEWS observed that the fire started from the kitchen.
Narrating what happened, Shonowo said he was in the house when his neighbours knocked at his gate and shouted “fire! fire!”
He said when he opened the door he saw heavy smoke billowing from some of the rooms upstairs.
Shonowo said he ran out and remembered that his aged mother was in one of the rooms upstairs, he ran back and brought her mother out before the fire destroyed the whole place.
He noted that fire service workers responded but before they came all the property in the house had been destroyed.
He said he was grateful to God that no life was lost.
