Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, who is now the governor-elect of Lagos on his victory at the polls.
Obanikoro who lost to Jimi Agbaje during the Peoples Democratic Party primaries in Lagos urged residents to support Ambode to ensure Lagos appreciates in years to come.
“I congratulate @AkinwunmiAmbode on his election into the office of Governor of Lagos State,” the Minister of State II, Foreign Affairs wrote on his Twitter account.
He followed that with: “I urge Lagosians to support the new Governor-Elect @AkinwunmiAmbode as he directs the affairs of our state in the years ahead.”
Shortly after he congratulated him, Obanikoro followed Ambode on social media site, Twitter.
It would be recalled that Ambode beat Agbaje by 811,994 to 659,788 votes and was declared winner of the election after meeting the provisions in the electoral law by Returning Officer, Lagos State Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Isaac Adewole who is the Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan.
The duo scored 25 per cent of vote cast in all the 20 Local Government, the simple majority system was employed to determine the winner, with Ambode winning a very close contest.
