Simisola Tiwalade, a budding music act otherwise known as Sly, has made his debut with Damil’oun, a song released from the stable of Vanes Entertainment.

Speaking on the new song, Sly revealed that Damil’oun is his true life story.

“I composed the song when I was a bus conductor, in 2010. The driver was always cheating me because I was very young. Sometimes, he gives me N200 or N500 after working the whole day contrary to our agreement. I used to keep my music book and biro at a corner in the bus and write my songs while we wait for our turn to take passengers,” he narrated.

He recalled his contentious battle with poverty: “Things were pretty rough while growing up. I had to do menial jobs to support the family. In all of that anyway, I had my eyes on music. I had shown my music tendency in church since I was 10 as a backup chorister.”

Sly was later encouraged by Sunday Mathias, who helped him discover his potentials with secular music.

Osasu Obasuyi, the COO of Vanes Entertainment, described Sly as an “embodiment of talents and we are indeed committed to promote these endowments. Vanes is here to make the difference.”
