Three female passengers were on Friday burnt to death in an automobile accident along Abuja-Lokoja road.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in the FCT, Mrs Susan Ajenge, confirmed the report to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

Ajenge said that the accident involved a Peugeot 505 Station Wagon and Toyota Corolla vehicles.

She said that the two vehicles burst into flames after crashing into each other near the SHEDA Research Centre at Yan-Goji , Kwalli area council in the FCT.

The commander attributed the mishap to dangerous overtaking and warned motorist against reckless driving.

Corpses of the burnt victims have been deposited at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, where the survivors are also receiving treatment, she said.

Ajenge urged relatives to check for their loved ones at the UATH.
