The senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Alhaji Abdulfatai Buhari, who emerged winner of the the Oyo North senatorial district seat said he rode on the goodwill of the party and his antecedent.

He was declared winner by the INEC Returning Officer Abiodun Sanni, announced this at the district collation centre in Iseyin on Monday.

Sanni said Buhari polled a total of 100,456 to beat the Labour Party candidate Hon Tajudeen Were who was able to poll 75,469 votes.

Sanni declared that the incumbent Sen. Hosea Agboola, scored 60,480 votes while Accord party candidate Mrs Christiana Agbejinmi scored 35,000 votes.

He said that the Social Democratic party (SDP) candidate Raman Adepoju,got 8,887 votes.

The Returning Officer consequently declared Buhari the winner of the senatorial election in Oyo North.

According to Sanni a total of 310,662 out of 623,543 eligible votes were accredited in the district.

Buhari who shares same name with his party’s presidential candidate has promised to deliver the dividend of democracy to the people of Oyo North senatorial district.
