Special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Millennium Development Goals, MDG, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi has berated the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, for not providing alternative to the malfunctioning card reader for accreditation.

Case of malfunctioning card readers were experienced by voters in Ward 4, Unit 3 Temidire North where out of about 600 registered voters, 200 were able to succeed card reader’s hurdle around 11:00 a.m while others are waiting for INEC officials for their screening after the reader developed fault.

“This is unfortunate as people here are getting agitated because we cannot find any INEC supervisor to explain the next line of action. It is in your presence here that I calmed people down, only God knows what could have happened.

“I don’t know what will happen now as the accreditation period will soon be over,” he said.

“What was most annoying was that only few card reader machines were provided for this polling unit with large number of voters, making the process very slow.”

One of the voters, Mrs. Funmilayo Akindurodoye lamented that she could not do her accreditation because of the faulty card reader.

All Progressives Congress, APC’s Afolabi Awoniyi, said that he hopes INEC would rectify the faulty card reader.
