Some residents of Ikorodu have rubbished the use of the smart card readers, claiming that it is a waste of time and resources.

PM NEWS findings from Oriwu Merchant polling unit 015 in the area have revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC officials started accreditation at about 8:10am although they got there earlier than the 8:00am scheduled for the commencement of the accreditation.

The INEC officials tried cleaning up the place because posters of some candidates were still littered everywhere and the people were already out in their numbers with some people stating that others will still come around.

And when the accreditation finally started, the names of the first few people to be attended to were not on the card reader but were found on the register.

“The card reader is a waste of time and I do not see it working out really well. To me, it is not functioning well, lamented one of the accredited voters in a brief chat with our correspondent.

As at the time of filing this report, the INEC officials were still trying to fix it, thereby making the whole process slow.

Also, from the Jamaitu-Shamseedeen and Oriwu mosque praying ground pooling boots, the card-readers were looking new to most of the individuals and they claimed that it is time consuming.

The electorates looked reluctant to continue with the process since it looked really slow to them, but they were still staying put to see through the accreditation.
