Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State has predicted a landslide victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Yuguda, who spoke to newsmen on Thursday at the Government House, Bauchi, said that the PDP would be victorious because the electorate was pleased with the party’s achievements.

“What I am expecting is a landslide for PDP.

“As you can see, it’s solidly on the ground, we are everywhere and our people are happy with what we have done, so by the grace of the Almighty Allah to whom power belongs, He is going to give it back to us.”

The governor, who is vying for the Bauchi South Senatorial seat under the platform of the PDP, promised to protect the interest of his constituents, if elected.

Yuguda stated that he would ensure that the people got the dividends of democracy that was due to them.

He promised to participate fully in the enactment of laws for speedy development of the state and the country at large.

“Whatever is available as part of the dividends of democracy that would be shared at the federal level, I will make sure that our senatorial district gets it and Bauchi state at large.

“Secondly, I will make sure that any law that will not be in the interest of Bauchi State people, I will make sure that that law is not put in place.

“I will make sure that we generate laws for the good governance of our country. I will play actively in that aspect and make sure that laws that will lead to speedy development of my state and Nigeria at large are passed.”

On electoral violence, Yuguda said that he expected zero violence in the state.

According to him, if Nigerians believe that power belongs to God and that He gives it to whoever he wills, then we will be convinced that nobody will get power using violence.

“I expect zero violence in our elections, but in communities and societies, you have evil people.

“Just like we read in our book of faiths, there are people who are going to hell, so we cannot discard the fact that they will not prepare for violence.

“But I think the security agents are ready for them. They will deal with them decisively, bring them to book and prosecute them.

“Our people had their own share of violence in 2011; we know the outcome of violence, people are not prepared for violence.

“The political parties have signed agreements that their followers are going to be peaceful

“Bauchi has a government that has ensured protection of lives and property, we are ready to perform that task during the elections.”

The governor thanked the people of the state and the electorate for their support to his administration.
