Wife of All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Mrs Aishat Buhari and Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice presidential candidate stormed Abeokuta,the Ogun State capital on Tuesday to campaign for their husbands, Gen Muhammadu Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
The entire city of Abeokuta was electrifying as residents and various political and social groups n trooped out to welcome the wives of the APC candidates.
The state was chosen to host the Southwest zone women rally of the APC. Similar rallies have been held in other regions of the country.
The two women and wives of state governors, after they arrived the stadium, moved round the city to pay homage to some personalities within the town and also went to the Government House, Oke Igbein, Abeokuta. From there they moved with the governor back to the stadium.
Among the dignitaries in Abeokuta were the wife of the National Chairman of APC, Mrs Odigie-Oyegun, wife of Lagos State Governor, Dame Abimbola Fashola, her counterpart from Kwara State, Hajia Omolewa Ahmed, Mrs Florence Ajimobi,wife of Oyo State governor, Mrs Judith Amaechi, wife of Rivers State governor, wife of Imo State, Mrs Okorocha, APC deputy governorship candidate in Ogun, Princess Yetunde Onanuga.
Others are the former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Adelabu, wife of the APC Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mrs Ambode, Lagos deputy governor, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefilure,forner Lagos deputy governor, Mrs Sarah Sosan, wives of both APC governorship and deputy governorship candidates of Rivers State, Mrs Peterside Dakuku and Mrs Asati Clever, wife of Adamawa former governor, Hajia Nyako, APC Southwest Zonal women Leader, Chief Mrs Kemi Nelson, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief (Mrs) Alaba Lawson, Chief Mrs Onileere,Mrs Abba Folawiyo,Sen Iyabo Anisulowo, Mrs Zainab Jafar, former minister, Hajia Anata Sanni among others.
At exactly 11:50 a.m,the governor of Ogun State,Ibikunle Amosun arrived the stadium alongside the wives of Buhari and Osinbajo.
Other party leaders both male and female were in the entourage as he moved round the stadium to greet and cheer all the women already seated in their state pavilion.
The opening prayer was rendered by both the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa in the Christan way while the APC State Chairman, Alhaji Roqeeb Adeniji offered prays in the Islamic way.
In her welcome address, Chief Kemi Nelson thanked the governor and the good people of Ogun State for accepting to host the women wing of the party in the region.
She charged all the women from alll the six southwestern states not to relent until the trumpet of victory is blown, assuring that the APC will form the next government at the centre.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Olufunsho Amosun expressed satisfaction over the large turn out of the people of the state, especially, the women to welcome the APC women leaders.
She enjoined them to massively come out on Saturday to cast their votes for all the APC candidates and demostrate same on April 11, 2015 for her husband and other state lawmakers.
As at the time of filling this report, wives of the serving governors who were at the event were being called one after the other to make their goodwill messages.
