The South-South Solidarity Forum, a Socio-Cultural Group, has said that Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the PDP Presidential Candidate is a symbol of stability in the country.

The National President of the group, Dr Bassey Umoh, made the assertion on Saturday in Uyo at an interactive session with newsmen on the political situation in Nigeria.

Umoh said that Jonathan remained a true nationalist because he had been developing the country evenly, and most times at the detriment of his geo-political zone.

He said that Jonathan’s performance in the area of agricultural development, railway rehabilitation, aviation industry, job creation for youths and women superseded that of any other president since independence.

“Dr Goodluck Jonathan is a true nationalist because he developed the country without regional or ethnic bias. Sincerely speaking, Jonathan represents the stability of Nigeria.

“I want to say here that Jonathan is the best choice for Nigeria because he represents the unity of Nigeria.

“He came from the South-South and has improved on the education in the North, developing the West by constructing the road that were abandoned — Lagos-Ibadan express way, Shagamu-Ore-Benin road and Lokoja-Ilorin road.

“If you come to the East, the second Niger Bridge that was abandoned, he has inaugurated it and promised to complete it in his second term in office if voted into power.

Umoh, who is also the former President, National Association of Resident Doctors at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, said Jonathan deserved a second term because he had performed well.

He appealed to all Nigerians to support Jonathan’s second term bid so that he would continue with the transformation of the country.

According to him, the North, West and East have always received the support of the South-South in time past.

He appealed that Nigerians support Jonathan to win a second term, and in four years time they will all come back to seek the support of the South-South.

He said, “the South South has never departed from those true nationalistic tendencies since the creation of the entity called Nigeria”.

Umoh called on all Nigerians irrespective of religious and ethnic differences to support and vote for Jonathan on March 28.

According to him, a vote for Jonathan is a vote for real change that Nigeria needs.
