I Can't Work With Foreign Coach, Keshi Tells NFF

Late Stephen Keshi

Out of contract coach of Nigeria’s senior national team, Super Eagles, Stephen Keshi, has denied some of the reports surrounding the protracted contract talks with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

Keshi insisted he wasn’t offered a pay rise and is against working with a foreign technical adviser. The former Eagles’captain who is currently holidaying in the United States told Brila FM early today that he is expected to sign a new improved contract but revealed that his lawyers had gone through the provisions of the contract offered and the contentious issues had been pointed out to the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick.

“ My lawyer went through the contract and there were a lot of things in it I don’t like. I spoke with the President before I left and told him I wasn’t comfortable with some of the provisions of the contract.

“ There was no clause for a pay rise, there was a suggestion of bringing in a foreign coach but I find this difficult to understand. If you want a coach, show him you have total trust in his abilities and these are areas I want to discuss with the NFF,” he said.
