Top movie stars Joke Silva, Iretiola Doyle, Segun Arinze and a host of other popular Nollywood acts were on Wednesday, 25 February treated to an exquisite brunch organised by the official sponsor of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), Amstel Malta and Multi Choice at the Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos.

The celebrities, all of who came out dressed to the nines, were full of appreciation to the organisers of the brunch and awards.

Wishing the nominees the best of luck at the awards, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, Regional Director, M-Net (West) said: “In just a short time, the AMVCAs have become the continental celebration of film and TV talent across the continent and the acceptance and appreciation of the awards show the amazing transformations taking place in the African film and TV industry. As we approach the third edition of the awards, we celebrate the talents that have driven the growth of the African film and TV industry to what it is today. Africa Magic celebrates these talents not just today, or at the awards but always.”

It was an afternoon of celebration, glitz and glamour as the brunch which was hosted by popular on air personality and presenter of 53 Extra,OzzyAgu, began with a red carpet event and had in attendance a number of popular Nollywood talents nominated in several categories at this year’s AMVCAs.

O.C. Ukeje, who himself was a nominee of the Best Actor category, couldn’t hide his excitement at the idea.

According to him, it was a laudable one and deserved a lot of commendation.

“It’s a great feeling to know that our efforts do not go unnoticed. As actors and movie makers, we put in so much work into what we do, all in a bid to please our viewers and it feels absolutely amazing that we can be rewarded when we do it right. Big kudos to Amstel Malta,” Ukeje said.

Major highlight of the event was Amstel Malta’s plan to reward winners of the Best Actor (Drama), Best Actress (Drama), Best Comedy and Best Overall Movie categories with cash prizes, which brought smiles to the faces of all present. Other notable celebrities present at the event were Kunle Afolayan, renowned celebrity photographer, Kelechi Amadi Obi, media personality, IK Osakioduwa, Lala Akindoju, Wole Ojo, Ivie Okujaye amongst others.

The 2015 AMVCA will kick off with the Technical Awards on 6 March and climax the following day with the main awards event, both at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
