Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State on Saturday received over 20 PDP groups who defected to the All ProgressiveS Congress ( APC) in Sokoto North and North local government areas of the state.

He told the defectors and other supporters of the party to ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) so as to ensure the success of the party’s candidates in next month’s general elections.

Wamakko said that acquiring the PVCs would ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming elections.

He called for political tolerance and understanding amongst the people of the state to ensure peaceful conduct of the electoral processes.

The governor also called on leaders of political parties to embark on aggressive political sensitisation to educate the people on the need to ensure political tolerance and understanding.

He explained that violence and thunggery would be a thing of the past if leaders of various political parties educate their followers on dangers involved in violence.

Wamakko also called on the party’s supporters not to sell their PVC, adding that it was the tool needed to be used to ensure the desired political change in the country.

In his remarks, the Spokesman of the defectors, Alhaji Aminu Mainasara, described the APC as the party that would meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.

He said that over 20 PDP groups with their supporters had defected to the APC to ensure its victory in the February elections.

Mainasara promised to mobilise the people of the state for the victory of the APC and urged those who had yet to collect their permanent voter cards to do so for the overall success of the party in next month’s elections.
