Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria has advised the former governor and a chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Olusegun Osoba to play politics of facts in the build up to next month’s general elections.

The governor spoke on the heels of recent claim by his former leader, Olusegun Osoba that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the State has been marginalizing some sections in the State to the advantage of the Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Osoba, while addressing traditional rulers in Ago Iwoye in Ijebu North local government area of the State on Tuesday accused the governor and the APC government of neglecting Ogun East Senatorial District and focusing more on Abeokuta, the State capital.

The two time governor of the State, Olusegun Osoba while speaking at the inauguration of some projects initiated by Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka, the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, described Amosun as a sectional governor, who concentrated most of his projects in Abeokuta and its environs to the detriment of other towns in the State.

The governor while addressing Chiefs and Traditional heads from the local government area today stated that, “I will only urge our leader, Chief Osoba to let us play politics of facts. I have vowed not engage in politics of sentiments and frivolities, but, that of facts.

“But, because that allegation has been made, it is important to clear the air to our people. We should not be playing such politics. To gain what?

“We have bridges in Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode, Sagamu and Ota. Others are also coming up at Ijebu Igbo and Ilaro. We have our model schools in all the sections. In fact, that of Ogun East is more than other sections. Out of the six in Ogun East, four is now ready. And we are saying, we have not done anything. We have our roads every where also, across the four sections. So, where is the discrimination Chief Osoba is talking about? Where is the marginalization?,” Amosun asked.

The governor declared that Abeokuta, as the capital got more projects, “because we are all members of the State capital where we are going to have the headquarters of our industries, we have to improve it. It cannot be the same, but, our presence is also felt in other sections, which, Chief Osoba himself, had once acknowledged.”.
