As the February presidential election draws nearer, groups both within and outside the country have been showing their support for the candidature of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari.

The Association for Credible Leadership in Nigeria and the United States of America (USA) in a press statement on Monday disclosed that, though, the group is not against President Goodluck Jonathan’s government, it endorsed Buhari because Nigerians are hungry and angry.

They affirmed that the change, every Nigerians is clamoring for this time around is imminent and imperative for sovereignty to continue to be in existence.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator of the group in Nigeria, Comrade Adeyemi Sarumi, the group said, it stood up in unison to change the tone of history by investing in the next presidential election in Nigeria.

At a symposium organized by the group yesterday in Chicago, USA with Nigerians in Diaspora and the Mayor of Chicago city in attendance, the group endorsed the APC Presidential candidate as the next President of Nigeria.

The symposium themed: “Leadership as an impediment to Nigeria development” was discussed by Nigerians in Diaspora and Mayor of Chicago city.

“There are times for merriments, there are times to cry! Nigerians are sobbing for sins not committed by all. We must stand to defend our heritage by chasing away total charade in the name of governance which imposed poverty and destitution on the doorsteps of every Nigerian.

“We have faced endless and habitual corruption perpetrated by mischief makers who are our brothers. Today, brothers will rise against brothers by making a statement on February 14, 2015 in a social contract the way we made historical statement on June 12, 1993.

“The present government has failed our people, if we continue this way; Nigeria might not know peace. We are seated on gunpowder that had started exploding in the North East which could extend to every part of our nation. This anarchy must be brought to end by giving back what the people deserve in terms of infrastructure and hope for real development.

“We are not against the government but Nigerians are hungry and angry. Change is imminent and imperative for our sovereignty to continue to be in existence. The Speakers made economic and historical comparative analysis among nations of the world. UAE, China, America and Japan developments were made the pacesetters of the world.

“We all have a duty to protect our land and what belongs to us for the wasted generation of ours and wasteful coming generation could have a new Nigeria where the economy will be as strong as the economy of China, where the infrastructure will be the best like UAE infrastructure and the people will love one another like the Americans,” the statement reads in part.

The group further stated that, “Our dead generation of heroes and heroines left a banner without a stain for us to keep and cherish, but greed sent our conscience to extinction without recourse for humanity and posterity that will catch up with embezzlers and reckless rulers who shamelessly replaced our dignity for hunger and survival of the fittest.

“We support General Muhammed Buhari for his antecedents as disciplined Head of State with zero tolerance for corruption and as a Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) Chairman who did not steal kobo from the agency account according to Major Hamza Al-Mustapha who was the Security Adviser to the then Head of State, General Sanni Abacha.

“We hereby call Nigerians to stand up for their beliefs to vote come February 14 for General Muhammed Buhari who we can trust with our ballots, our people and our future and the future of Nigerians yet unborn. We all might not understand except when you take a trip around the world and see uncommon development of the West, Asia and some parts of the East then you will appreciate the need to change this unpopular government and ruling party at the centre for change we are yearning for.”

They however charged Nigerians irrespective of their tribes and tongues to stand in brotherhood and called the bluff, enough is enough.
