With about three weeks to the 14 February presidential poll, President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid has received a grassroots boost.

A group, House To House Support Initiative for Dr. Goodluck 2015, is mobilising Nigerians to ensure that the President wins the election.

National Publicity Secretary of the group, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, who is also the Director General (DG) of Lagos Goodluck/Sambo Independent Campaign Group told P.M.NEWS on Monday that they are working to ensure the re-election of President Jonathan with the mission to reach the people of Lagos and Nigeria at the grassroots.

“We’ll be going from house to house to tell Nigerians the achievements of Jonathan in the last four years in the areas of transportation, education, housing, health, power and agriculture. We will also let Nigerians realise that even though there is a lot more to be done, Jonathan has performed creditably well.

“We would also take our message to the people that the alternative to Jonathan as presented by All Progressives Congress, APC, will be a step backward for Nigeria and bad omen for our democracy.

“Buhari is not new to Nigerian politics; he had been Head of State in the past. We knew him as a despotic leader who had no respect for press freedom and human rights of Nigerians. And he now comes around to give the impression that he has respect for democracy. What we’ll do is to go back to his past.

“We in House To House Support Initiative for Dr. Goodluck 2015 and Lagos Goodluck/Sambo Independent Campaign Group believe that Buhari doesn’t have the mental and intellectual capacity to rule the nation

“Whatever the shortcoming of Jonathan, he is eminently more qualified and more sensitive as the president of our great nation,” he said.

According to Dr. Pearse, a lecturer at the University of Lagos, the House To House Support Initiative for Dr. Goodluck 2015, which has been launched in Abuja, has since been touring with the president in his nationwide campaign, adding that “between now and the time of election, we’ll unleash powerful messages on the need for Nigerians to re-elect our dear president and more importantly for Nigerians to make informed choice on 14 February.”

Dr. Pearse concluded that the Chairman, Board of Trustee, BOT, of House To House Support Initiative for Dr. Goodluck 2015, Dr. Reuben Jaja, will be in Lagos from Tuesday to hold consultative meetings as they chart a course of action for the group toward the 14 February election.
