Speaking on the event, Kefee’s husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, said the choice of the Daystar auditorium as the venue was because Kefee worshipped there and the church was willing to host her memorial.

He also explained the choice of 5 February as the date of the memorial because it wasn’t up to one year since Kefee died, on 13 June, 2014 precisely.

Teddy said: “Usually  the 5th of February is always special to her (Kefee). That’s the day she was actually born and whatever she wants to do, she’s always giving birth to things that day. When the kitchen opened, when the foundation opened, when an album drops, she’s always dropping these things on her birthday so we just felt that, ok, we should continue the theme, we should continue that tradition.

“On her birthday, we just don’t want to have the usual birthday thing, but we want to have a memorial because a whole lot of people in Lagos were actually saying that when we did the memorial then during the burial, we actually left Lagos out. “We just felt that, ok, let’s have a memorial now on her birthday and then, I just don’t want to have an ordinary birthday that people will come that day, and then go. So what will they be going with? Apart from honouring her with our presence, she’s also going to give you presents, and so we will be having a memorial service and albums launch. “Albums in terms of the DVD is dropping and the other half of the double album she actually wanted to release. First we wanted to release two albums, the Beautiful and Chorus Leader. She was able to release the Chorus Leader but the Beautiful album would be dropping by the grace of God on the 5th.

“So we now have the two albums and we now have the Best of Both Worlds. The Best of Both Worlds is a combination of the Chorus Leader and the Beautiful, but this time, on DVD,’’ he said.

Teddy added that the Kefee Memorial event would be an annual affair.
