Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Wednesday issued an executive order stopping the nursing students of Nigeria’s premier private university, Igbinedion University, Okada, from making use of the facilities of the state-owned Benin Central Hospital and the Stella Obasanjo Hospital.

The order which was contained in a press statement issued by Mr. Peter Okhiria, Chief Press Secretary to governor, said it was part of ongoing audit to rid the system of parasites feasting on the patrimony of Edo people.

According to the statement, the students of the School of Nursing affiliated to Igbinedion University, have until now used government hospitals free of charge over the years even when they pay their fees to the Igbinedion University.‎

It would be recalled that the state government had earlier terminated an agreement to train medical students of the university at its specialist hospitals over debts totalling N350 million.
