2015 budget will be passed in good time - Tambuwal

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has assured Nigerians that the House would expedite action in the passage of the 2015 Appropriation Bill.

Tambuwal gave the assurance at the resumed session of the lower house after the Christmas and New Year recess on Tuesday.

Aside from the budget, he said that other priority bills to be considered by the House were Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) and Electoral Bill.

He also said that the Appropriation, Finance, Aids and Loan Committees would consider Medium Terms Expenditure Framework (MTEF).

“They are to present the report to the house for consideration after which the 2015 budget will be considered,” he said.

During the plenary, the speaker announced the defection of some lawmakers from one political party to another after the recent primaries of the parties.

The defected lawmakers, according to him, are Reps. Eddie Mbadiwe (APGA-Imo), who moved to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Muritala Musa (Accord-Oyo), who defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Others, he added, were Ibrahim Olaifa, who left PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jerry Manwe, from PDP to SDP, and Ibrahim Ebbo, from PDP to APC.
