President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick has revealed that a new deal would have been announced for Stephen Keshi if he had not rejected an offer of the football authority.

According to Pinnick, the football federation hopes to take the right decision on Keshi, and so the delay in the announcements regarding the future of the out-of-contract coach will be resolved soon.

The executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will meet Thursday in Lagos where several issues including that of the future of Keshi will be discussed.

“The chairman technical committee is in touch with coach Stephen Keshi. And he is going to recommend to the board the decision of his committee. Like I keep saying, contracts are not signed over night,” Pinnick told Africanfootball.com.

“In Nigeria, we have a very peculiar environment and that is why it’s taking this long. We don’t want to make mistakes but to take a right decision that is beneficial to all.”

Keshi’s initial three-year contract lapsed in July after the country’s World Cup campaign in Brazil. He failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations which kicks on 17 January in Equatorial Guinea.
