Nigeria: Car bomb kills six persons in Yobe

A car bomb has killed six persons today in Maiduwa village, Fika Local Government Area of Yobe state north east Nigeria, Channels TV has reported.

The Nigerian TV channel quoted an officer of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Maiduwa Town, who said the bomber had boarded a commercial Volkswagen Golf Car with the explosive devices from Fika Town heading to Potiskum, the commercial centre of the state.

He further revealed that five kilometres after takeoff, the car ran into a coming vehicle, killing six persons on the spot as the explosive devices went off prematurely, according to a report on Channels TV.

The NURTW officer also said the incident happened around 1:00 p.m.

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf Car survived, along with another teenager.

Both have both been taken to Fika General Hospital.

Maiduwa is 65 kilometers to Potiskum town east of Damaturu the Yobe state capital.
