The lawmaker representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, has enjoined all Christians to emulate the life of Jesus Christ just as His birth is being remembered this season.
In a statement released from the lawmaker’s constituency office, Ashafa said: “In this Christmas season which draws 2014 to an end, it is important to keep in mind that so long as the gifts and parties are going on to celebrate this season, the central theme of the season should not be watered down.
“The birth of Christ, which the story of Christmas revolves around, epitomizes love, kindness, sacrifice, forbearance and humanity – virtues that we as a people, regardless of religion or tribe, ought to demonstrate clearly in deeds and words.”
He advised all and sundry to open their hearts with love in relation to one another and pray for the unity of the country and the hope of a better tomorrow, just as the spirit of this Christmas season preaches.
