For those who have labelled General Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate in next years polls ‘old school’ the former Head of State has proven that he can keep up with what is trending by joining Twitter.

As at the time of filing this report, the 71-year had racked up 19,400 followers and was following four persons on his @ThisIsBuhari account. They are his running mate, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Buhari Volunteers and APC Nigeria.

In typical fashion, Buhari’s first of six tweets read: “Good afternoon my friends! This will now be my official Twitter handle to communicate with you. – GMB”

He then followed it with another. “I thank everyone who has helped amplify our message and campaign through various handles. – GMB”

Buhari who seemed to be getting on pretty fine on the social media platform wrote that tweets signed GMB were written by him. “I and my office will speak to you from here. Personal tweets will be signed GMB.”

Buhari who was welcomed to the platform by loads of Nigerians acknowledged former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar. “Thank you @atiku, your service to our great party continues to inspire. #APC #ThingsMustChange”

His profile read: “This is the official account of Muhammadu Buhari, Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress.”
