Court remands two for stealing recharge cards

The duo of Kabiru Jolaosho, 23 and Boluwatife Fayebe, 22, were on Thursday ordered to be remanded in prison custody by Magistrate Martina Akinyemi of Magistrate Court 2, Isabo, Abeokuta till March 2015.

The accused persons were alleged to have stolen some recharge cards and mobile phones belonging to Mr Lukman Amusa valued at over one million naira.

The incident occurred on 16 July 2014 at Isale-Abetu area of Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.

According to police prosecutor, Inspector M.A. Ahmed, the accused are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy to steal and robbery.

The charge sheet reads,”…That, the accused persons and others at large on July 16, 2014 at about 9:30 p.m. at Isale Abetu, Abeokuta in Abeokuta Magisterial District did conspire together to commit felony to wit armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 6(b) and punishable under 1(2) (b) of the robbery and firearms Act Cap R II law other federation of Nigeria, 2004.

“….That,the accused persons and others at large on same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did rob money, the sum of N230,000, stock of recharge cards, a Toshiba digital camera, two Nokia phones, three Techno phones and an Itel phone, properties of one Lukman Amusa and at the time of robbery, you were armed with dangerous weapons, such as gun and thereby committed an offence.”

The accused persons, Kabiru Jolasho and Boluwatife Fayebe, pleaded not guilty to the two count charge.

Delivering his ruling on the matter, Magistrate Martins Akinyemi ordered that the duo be remanded in prison custody.

He later adjourned the matter till 6 March 2015.
