Kashamu's candidate lose House of Reps. ticket to ex-LG boss

This is not a good time for the acclaimed financier of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Prince Buruj Kashamu as one of his loyalists has lost his bid to win the House of Representatives ticket.

It would be recalled that Kashamu, who is the Chairman, Mobilisation and Sensitisation Committee for the PDP in the southwest ,is presently wrestling power with the former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel over who rules the party in the state.

Kashamu who won the Ogun East Senatorial ticket is supporting the newly elected governorship candidate of the party, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, GNI who emerged following a controversial governorship primary.

Aremo Segun Adekoya, popularly referred to as Attacker, who was a former Commissioner for Works in Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s administration, was widely believed to have been anointed by Kashamu for the ticket to represent Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency but lost the ticket to the former Chairman of Ijebu North local government, Alhaji Tele Ogunjobi.

Ogunjobi, was former Council boss in Ijebu North in 2008 in the administration of the former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. He was later removed by Daniel following the internal crisis that rocked the party in 2008 which resulted in the death of over four persons.

The former LG boss polled 33 votes while Attacker, Kashamu’s loyalist scored 32 votes.

The Ago-Iwoye born Chartered Accountant and Public Finance Management Expert defeated eight other aspirants including former House of Representatives member, Hon. Onadeko Onamusi and a serving State House of Assembly member, Hon. J.F. Adegbesan who scored 25 votes.

Other aspirants are Alhaji Ojonla Okulenu, who polled 27 votes while Segun Seriki, Adewale Adegbesan, Prince Duduyemi and Adebayo Banjoko all had no votes.

The election which was conducted at the PDP Secretariat, Ogbere-Ijebu was held amid tight security and in the present of the INEC officials and other security agents, including the SSS.
