A woman was killed at Shasha area of Akowonjo in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria when a private vehicle crushed a tricycle.
The victim simply identified as Mrs. Abigail was one of the passengers of the tricycle.
She died on the spot while others sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.
One of those injured was an old woman said to be returning from a church vigil.
The injured, it was learnt, were rejected at the hospital where they were initially taken to before they were moved to another hospital.
The accident occurred around 5 a.m. on Saturday at Abati Bus Stop along Shasha Road.
The vehicle, a Toyota Camry with registration number JJJ-103 DG, was said to have rammed into the tricycle while trying to overtake another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of this report was arrested by the police.
Witnesses said the driver was found drunk when he was arrested.
The corpse of the passenger was later taken away by the police to the mortuary.
Efforts made to speak with some relatives of the deceased found crying at the scene proved abortive as they refused to talk.
P.M.NEWS learnt further that a vehicle crashed into the building of a private school at the same bus stop last week.
Efforts to speak with DPO of Shasha Police Division on the accident was also not successful.
