The Delta Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) on Monday declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmanship candidates winners in 23 local government areas in the 25 October council elections in the state.

The DSIEC Chairman, Moses Ogbe, made the declaration in Asaba when he received the awaited chairmanship election result from Isoko South area where Mr Constantan Ikpokpo of the PDP also won.

NAN reports that DSIEC has issued certificates of return to the 23 chairmen elect.

Meanwhile, Jones Erue, State Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), at a news conference on Monday in Asaba, called for the cancellation of the results, alleging that there was no election in the state.

According to Ogbe, the collation of the results from Isoko South brings the total chairmanship results received from the Returning Officers from the Saturday’s contest to 23 councils out of the 25 in the state.

“I had earlier mentioned that there will be a run-off in eight wards in Ethiope East LGAs and a fresh election in Ndokwa East where the Retuning Officer said that election did not hold,” Ogbe said.

The two councils that have issues at stake are Ethiope East (inconclusive elections and run-off in 8 wards) and Ndokwa East (to face a fresh election).
