Governor Muktar Yero of Kaduna State on Saturday inaugurated the 3.68 kilometre Sabongari-Samaru-Yankarfe road in Sabongari Local Government Area.

NAN reports that the road was constructed at the cost of N458 million. Speaking before inaugurating the road at ‘Yankarfe, Yero thanked the contractors for what he called “a successful and good job”.

He said the road would solve the problem of traffic jam at Kwangila flyover in Zaria. “Anybody coming from Samaru and environs who wants to go to Kaduna, Kano or Zaria does not need to go under Kwangila Bridge.

“He or she can follow the new road and connect to where he or she wants to go in five minutes. This road will surely keep the area alive because a lot of activities will soon commence in the area.

“The essence of coming to commission the project here is to further demonstrate the willingness of the government to continue and complete all on-going projects.

“I want to dispel the rumour that we have abandoned this project,” Yero said.

In his speech, the Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Bashir Aliyu-Zangon-Aya, said the road was important in view of the traffic congestion being experienced on the-Samaru route.

“People usually spend more than one hour on traffic jam, especially at Kwangila flyover, but with the present development such experience will be a thing of the past.

“The road passes through Kwarin Ayuba-Anguwan-Yusi-‘Yankarfe on Kaduna-Kano expressway,” he said.

NAN reports that Yero had earlier inaugurated the Likoro-Magada-Soba road.
