The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers state chapter said today that its position is justified by the obvious admittance of a member of its Board of Trustees (BoT), Alabo Graham Douglas of having some clandestine activities with the state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, against the interest of the party.

The PDP notes that Chief Douglas in a recent interview with a national daily on Sunday, October 19 2014, admitted that his relationship with Governor Amaechi cannot be tampered with, not even in the consideration of the preferred views of his political affiliation, in this case the PDP.

PDP claimed that Alabo Graham Douglas, who in the said interview, described Goodluck Jonathan as his younger brother and Amaechi as his governor, said, “It will be foolhardy for anybody to say that I should severe relationship with him, (Amaechi). Jonathan is my younger brother and Amaechi is the governor of my state of origin. I have been playing fatherly roles to both of them.”

The PDP feels disappointed by the reported series of contacts between the Kalabari Chief, and Governor Amaechi, especially now that the issues of who becomes the President of the country and next Governor of the State are on the table of the political parties.

The PDP recalls its earlier revelation that those causing disaffection in the party are moles and agents of Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“We have been vindicated for calling those causing crisis in PDP moles and agents of the APC. We also wonder what a man who calls himself a PDP BoT member will be doing in an APC meeting, if he is not a mole and APC agent.”

The PDP says that it would like to be convinced by Chief Douglas who claims to be working for Jonathan but is in the state surreptitiously strategising with Amaechi on how to perpetuate APC leadership in the state and further install it at the national level.

“If what he professes would be taken seriously, when was the last time he offered fatherly advice to the leadership of the party or attend any of the numerous party events in the state?”

PDP says that rather than make the expected contributions and playing the roles of the person he ought to be, Alabo Graham Douglas chose to be offering opposing views to the APC leadership in the state. The party wondered what else can be called anti party activity than what he engages in with Governor Amaechi?

The party also expresses confidence in the leadership of the State Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah, and assures him unalloyed support and cooperation.
