Top three lose in Nigeria Premier League

Nigeria Premier League pacesetters Kano Pillars, Nasarawa United and Enyimba of Aba all succumbed to away defeats in some of the league matches played across the country this evening.

Reigning league champions Kano Pillars lost 2-0 to Bayelsa United in Benin while Nasarawa lost by a lone goal at Gombe United as did Enyimba in its match in Makurdi against Lobi Stars.

Despite the results, the trio maintained their respective positions in the Nigeria Premier League table, with Kano Pillars still top with 47 points after 28 matches, followed by Nasarawa with 44 points and Enyimba with 43 points.

Warri Wolves rose to fourth place, behind Enyimba on goal difference, courtesy of a 3-1 win at home to Dolphins of Port-Harcourt, that dropped to fifth place with 42 points as a result.

In other matches, Heartland compounded the misery of bottom club Nembe City with a 2-0 win in Owerri, Sharks defeated Kaduna United 3-0 in Port-Harcourt and Rangers came away from Umuahia with a point in a goalless draw with Abia Warriors.
