The Lagos State House of Assembly, on Wednesday passed a motion asking the state governor, Babatunde Fashola, to immortalise the late Medical Consultant of the First Consultant Hospital, Stella Adadevoh, by renaming the Infectious Diseases Hospital, IDH, in her honour.

If the governor implements this motion, the hospital would be named Dr. Stella Adadevoh Infectious Diseases Centre.

However, the sitting that was supposed to begin by 10am did not start until about 3:00 p.m.

The motion for the late Adadevoh was moved by the member representing Mushin Constituency 1 at the House, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso and seconded by Muyiwa Jimoh.

Adadevoh died after contracting the Ebola Virus Disease from the late Liberian-American importer of the disease, Patrick Sawyer.

The House reckoned that the late medical doctor took the risk to prevent the spread of the disease by preventing Sawyer from leaving the hospital.

The lawmakers had on Monday called on both Lagos State and the Federal Government to honour the late Dr. Adadevoh.

At that sitting, the lawmakers suggested that it would not be out of place to name the IDH after her.

At the Wednesday sitting, Speaker Ikuforiji directed the Clerk of the House, Segun Abiru, to communicate the decision of the House to Governor Fashola.
